I agree that the heartless core of the existing economic system is exploitation--of the environment and people. Changes in technology can't change that. We can, however, change the economic system.

Marxism isn't the answer: it contains the same power concepts, just in different hands (with a political elite doing the exploiting rather than an economic elite). ‘Democratic socialism’ does not get to the root of the problem: it leaves intact the system that is in place now and seeks to ameliorate problems through taxation and regulation.

The solution is to apply the principle of democracy directly to money itself, via a "democratically distributed income” (DDI). [That follows from recognizing mutual respect as the ethic of justice.] The DDI can be distributed more narrowly, to make the economy more just, or or more widely, for a ‘fully just’ economy. I favor the latter.
