I agree that humanity needs a new approach to governance--for ourselves as individuals as well as our political and economic processes. We need a universal ethic.

Mutual respect (of a basic kind: taking one another into account) is that ethic. It follows from believing in the equal moral value of all people (whether that belief is sacral or secular) and it also follows from observation within material existence.
