I agree that abortion is a sin. I disagree with criminalizing it. There are sins--the big sin of adultery being one--that are not crimes in this nation.

The governance of the U.S. is overwhelmingly based on Two Treatises of Government by John Locke (1689)--not the Bible. Locke emphasized that humans are separate and independent beings. (Thomas Jefferson had those words in his original draft of the Declaration of Independence.) That is the starting point of the very idea of individualism, which is the basis of the whole of idea of "Natural Rights" and civil rights.

A fetus is not a separate and independent being. A fetus therefore has no rights or Rights.

According to the doctrine of Original Sin, a fetus is no more innocent than you or I are. If it were, an abortion would mean that the soul of the fetus would go straight to Heaven, without having to go through the trials and tribulations of a life on Earth.
