I agree absolutely with your insight that credit — debt — is the driver of the contemporary economic system. All of the money in it is formed via debt.

I do have a (fully developed) solution, a way of supplying the economy with money without involving debt: “For Crying Out Loud, ACCEPT That A SOLUTION Actually EXISTS” (a “3 min read” — including options for further reading — here in Medium). With the current situation my frustration has hit hyper-drive. [If it matters, I do have an M.A. in economics.]
