Good luck with that. If people could accept that about their beliefs (defined as assertions of truth/knowledge that are independent of material existence), we could about rename Earth Utopia.

I don't get this insistence on the illegitimacy of rationality. It could not be more obvious that beliefs (secular/ideological or sacral/theological) have been the cause of humanity's self-inflicted the pain and suffering in our human relations. Rationality has produced physical problems, such as technology that has degraded the physical environment, but it also provides solutions--that people acting non-rationally resist. Science gave us nuclear power; conflict caused by ideology led to dropping atomic bombs on people.

Rorty thinks it best to substitute "feelings" for "beliefs?" That is being done. So far has given the UK Brexit and blessed us in the US with Trump's MAGA non-sense.
