For me, if 'being a Christian' isn't about being a better person in this life, it is of no value. Here's a question for you: is it possible for a person who only likes having sexual relations with members of that person's own gender to treat other people in a way that would be pleasing to Jesus? If the answer is "yes," as far as I am concerned that's all that matters. I only care about how people treat one another in this life. If 'being a Christian' helps with that, great; if not, it is of no value.
