First, my thanks for such an informative article.
As it happens, I have developed an 'ethic of justice', mutual respect in effecting choices, that follows from the observation that human beings have no choice but to effect choices, i.e., choose among perceived alternatives and take action to bring that choice to fruition (which I got from Warren J. Samuels).
So choosing is integral to being human. So recognizing one another as fellow humans begins with respecting each other's capacity to choose, beginning with choosing whether/how/to what extent to be involved in any way whenever any choice is being effected. At bottom, that means no killing, harming, coercing, stealing, or manipulating in effecting any choice (whether for oneself or on behalf of any other entity, such as a government or a business).
Does that accord with dharma?
