Donald J. Trump: A Very, Very Great Con Artist

Like many people, I have spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out the cultural significance of ‘President Trump’. His actions following the election have convinced me that in the end he is a con artist, plain and simple.

Like all such people, he has preyed on people who are either weak minded or whose ‘better selves’ have been overcome by emotion (in this case, an irrational hatred of political liberalism). Like all con artists, his only goal is self-aggrandizement. That includes ego as well as money. I see now that he ran for President to enhance his ‘brand’ and collect money in the form of campaign contributions.

Winning in 2016 had to be an unexpected bonus. He conducted himself in office in a way that would maximize his self-interest and keep his dupes fully engaged. Since the latest election he has ginned up ‘election fraud’ as a way to squeeze almost 200,000,000 more dollars out of his victims.
