As suggested in this article, the two overweening issues of our time come together: applying justice to the economy and the looming environmental threat (not limited to changing the climate of Earth) to civilization.

There is a way to tackle both at once. We can--justly--remove the incentive to disregard the natural environment for the sake of personal aggrandizement while making the distribution of income just and limiting consumption (to the average level of material well-being of a citizen of a so-called 'first world' nation).
