As long as we base judgements about human actions on beliefs, they only have meaning for those who share those beliefs. Surely this author would agree that "evil" consists in killing, harming (physically or psychologically), coercing, stealing, or manipulating (lying, cheating, etc..) to get what one wants (including psychological rewards to oneself, such as getting pleasure, etc. from threatening or hurting others).

I have shown that refraining from such actions is the minimum condition of "real justice." The ethic of real justice--mutual respect--is not based on beliefs, but follows from observation within material existence.
