"Alpha male" as a term to validate rude, obnoxious, boorishness is just stupid.

It did occur to me that monarchies as they actually existed before they got formally constrained by constitutions and legislatures (but always a far different thing than Modern personal dictatorships have been)--with both queens and kings as monarchs--seem to reflect rather accurately the alpha leader paradigm of our close genetic cousins (with more bloodshed and even killing involved with humans, of course). The big difference in the actual process seems to be that the Crown was inheritable. That was gotten around easily enough, though, and was only a way of getting the Crown, anyway: keeping it was another matter entirely.
