A very intersting analysis, but I do have doubts about the cause and effect. Hyperpartisanship preceded the repeal of limits on donations. It goes back to the willful strategy of the Republican Party to pander to bigots and outright racists following the triumph of liberals/Democrats in ending legalized segregation. People of that ilk eventually realized that they owned the Republican Party, which cannot win a single election without them.
