"A New Liberalism" (here in Medium, but not--for the benefit of any 'guest readers'--behind the paywall).

The 'only' problem is that the conceptual and material inadequacies of the old Liberalism--the only meta-ideology even to try to put justice first--are starting to outweigh its benefits. Moreover, those are for too many people purely immaterial--and even those benefits are being eroded by the increasingly blatant injustice stemming from the material outcomes in Liberal societies.

In short, to save democracy we need to put it on stronger conceptual ground and to apply it to the economy. That does not mean 'equal shares for all', but does entail ensuring that every (adult) citizen has a sufficient income to obtain what truly is 'enough' materially.
