A macroeconomic solution does exist. The single biggest problem related to sustainability is the political imperative in every nation to maximize total output--in order to maximize employment, total income, and taxes collected. There is a way to eliminate any need to maximize total output.

All that is needed is a single adjustment to the existing economic system, specifically, the way it is supplied with money (as currency). That could be accomplished in any nation, with a single legislative Act. We could be living in a far better world by the end of next year.
